Babcock-Hitachi K.K. developed an acoustic furnace gas thermometer to realize advanced operational performance by measuring the distribution of gas temperature online and achieving the following.

  1. Various combustion properties / heating surface contamination properties :
    Reduction of harmful components in combustion gases, fouling prevention, control of collected amount of heat in the furnace.
  2. Improvement of rate of load change by optimizing overfiring / underfiring.

  1. Non-contact type.
    1. Less errors due to radiation unlike the thermocouple thermometer
      High precision even at 1000 °C or more.
    2. Good durability, small errors due to radiation.
  2. Measurement of spatial average temperature along the acoustic propagation path.
  3. Developable to temperature distribution measurement by the CT* technique.
