Limestone-gypsum Method / High-efficiency FGD

Flue gas desulfurization system for a 1000 MW coal burning boiler in Japan
Our wet limestone-gypsum method flue gas desulfurization systems (FGD) has adopted a spray tower for absorber having a lot of advantages as described below and provides a economy and high reliability.
In addition, a large amount of know-how we have supplied for 30 years is used for our FGD systems.
Advantages of Spray Tower
- Ideal structure with a few internal structures
Its simple structure with a few internal structures eliminates scaling into the absorption tower, providing a high degree of reliability.
- Efficient dust removal performance
In addition to high desulfurizing performance, dust removal performance is required in the absorber of the FGD that is installed at the final stage of the flue gas treatment.
Since slurry sprayed in the spray tower removes fine dusts, there is no need to install a wet electric precipitator at the downstream of the SOx removal system.
- Low pressure losses
Efficient liquid-vapor contact of particulate slurry and flue gas provides high desulfurizing performance with low pressure losses.
- High efficiency oxidization by the propeller atomizer
The oxidation agitator which was developed by ourselves efficiently oxidizes absorbed SO2 to high-purity gypsum. The oxidation agitator uses a small amount of power to create tiny air bubbles from oxidized air, realizing efficient oxidization using a small amount of oxidized air.
- Less installation space
Its low pressure losses allow designing of high speed gas flow in the absorber, requiring less installation space.
Limestone-gypsum Method / Simplified FGD
We can offer a horizontal flow absorber (horizontal spray method) as a limestone-gypsum method FGD that requires easy duct works. This horizontal flow absorber carries out desulfurization in horizontal gas flow section contacting with limestone droplets. This system was developed as an economical alter native. Absorber can be installed or retrofitted easily between the flue gas ducts. Its construction is simple achieving SO2 removal efficiency up to 90%.
In China, FGD corresponding to the 200 MW scale has been operating successfully, providing optimum performance to prevent air pollution.
