Hitachi

Hitachi have also developed a highly accurate simulation model for analysis of combustion, heat transfer and water / steam characteristics in a boiler.

Simulation of Combustion and Heat Transfer

Method of calculation

Turbulent flow

k-ƒÃ model, 3D calculation
SIMPLE method (Semi-Implicit Method for Pressure Linked Equations)

Radiation

DT (Discrete Transfer) method

Combustion (gas phase)

Eddy dissipation model (major species)
Steady state assumption (nitrogen species, XN)
Equilibrium assumption (radicals)

Combustion (solid phase)

Two competing reactions model (pyrolysis)
Reaction and diffusion control (heterogeneous reaction)

Conclusion

  1. A Simplified NOx reaction model was developed for analyzing combustion performances of utility boilers.
  2. The model expressed low-NOx combustion performances of utility boilers.
  3. Optimum combustion system can be proposed based on this analysis combining our low-NOx burners.

Using these advanced combustion modeling techniques we can analyze the current operating conditions, review results and propose optimal solutions based upon actual operating parameters.
